Join the BCMA and Viviane Gosselin, Director of Collections and Exhibitions at the Museum of Vancouver (MOV) and SAGE Lead, for this deep dive into SAGE's new online toolkit. Designed to support museums and theatres in reducing waste associated with the production of their exhibitions, the toolkit is intended as a resource for curatorial staff, project managers, designers, and builders of exhibitions and theatre sets. Discuss how the toolkit complements other online sustainability resources in our sector, learn about local and international examples of low-waste exhibitions, and explore Barder.Art a free peer-to-peer material exchange platform.

SAGE stands for Sustainable Arts and Green Ecosystem. Led by MOV, and funded by the Canada Council for the Arts, this initiative focuses on climate action and circularity in the museum sector. In 2023-2024, SAGE brought together Vancouver-based museum, gallery, and theatre professionals, designers, design students, and sustainability scholars committed to reducing exhibition material consumption and waste. The SAGE toolkit represents the result of 22 months of conversations and valuable learning experiences among SAGE partners.
