Join BCMA and Matthew Fleming, learning and development facilitator with CultureAlly, for this engaging Bystander Intervention workshop. This workshop is delivered in partnership with CultureAlly. CultureAlly helps build stronger cultures through interactive training, consulting, and eLearning that make it easier for teams to connect, grow, and lead with confidence.
In this session, participants will gain an understanding of the Bystander Effect and our role as bystanders, strategies for effective bystander intervention, and overcoming barriers to intervention. Participants will learn about the 5 steps of bystander intervention and effective communication strategies, as well as how to overcome common barriers to intervention.

By completing purchases with us you agree to have your Credit card and personal information securely stored as part of a payment profile within a 3rd party payment gateway. This securely stored payment profile will be used, when authorized, for automated recurring payments and will allow for easier and faster checkouts. No credit card information is stored within Member365 and all payment data is accessed by way of a secure API. Under no circumstances do we share credit card or personal details.
BC Museums Association Member Code of Conduct
All BCMA members commit to
- providing, creating, and/or contributing to safe and respectful working conditions and to fostering a workplace free from discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct;
- acting in the best interests of the publics’ trust;
- to support the goals set out by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP). To achieve these goals, the BCMA encourages members to embrace the ideals of the Rod Naknakim Declaration and incorporate them into their professional practices.
The BCMA also encourages botanical and zoological gardens, aquaria and vivaria in its membership to uphold the care standards set forth by the Canada’s Accredited Zoos and Aquariums (CAZA).
Members (individual or institutional) who engage in conduct that is unbecoming or inconsistent with the mission and values of the Association may be made ineligible for BCMA funding and programming opportunities, and in breaches in the code of conduct may result in members being expelled from the BC Museums Association, as outlined in the BCMA Bylaws.

The BCMA expects our affiliate members to conduct business in a respectful, equitable, and culturally sensitive manner and to comply with the following:
- Comply with all relevant laws and regulations regarding your use of the BCMA member directory and your communications with BCMA members, including Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL)
- Act in good faith, responsibly, with due care, and diligence in your business transactions with any BCMA Member
- Never use or attempt to use your relationship with the BCMA or your status as a BCMA member to imply an endorsement of your products or services
Who can access the BC Museums Association member portal?
Please note that the BC Museums Association member portal is to be used by members of the BC Museums Association only or, in the case of Institutional Members, their designated employees. Certain workspaces within the member portal will be tailored for and restricted to certain membership types; access to these areas will be determined and approved by BC Museums Association staff. The Content that is displayed in your member portal will automatically vary based on your user / membership type.
What can be posted?
To ensure all interactions within the BC Museums Association member portal are safe and friendly, BC Museums Association staff will oversee the member portal activity and will occasionally review, edit, and delete any inappropriate content that has been submitted. This includes, but is not limited to, abusive or offensive language, spam, malicious files, misleading information, or other disrespectful content. It may also include content posted incorrectly or to incorrect areas. To help provide a productive environment, please report any offensive or suspicious activity to BC Museums Association staff.
