BCMA Mentorship Application 2021 - 2022
BC Museums Association 2021 - 2022 Mentorship Program Application
Thank you for your interest in the BCMA Mentorship program! On the following page are a number of questions. Please answer all the questions to the best of your ability, keeping in mind that the more we know about you the better able we are to match you with an appropriate mentor. The BCMA mentorship program is a member benefit program - i.e. only available to BCMA members in good standing. Please keep in mind that submitting an application does not mean you have been accepted into the program. We will be in touch with applicants to let them know about the status of their applications via email.
The BCMA mentorship program will provide Emerging Museum Professionals (EMP) with a loosely-structured mentorship pairing with a suitable professional in a similar field. Currently, the mentorship relationship is slated to run for approximately eight months (November to June) with mentors and mentees ideally meeting in person (if safe to do so) or electronically about once a month.
EMPs are commonly described as professionals in the first 10 years of their career, often in entry-level positions, able to secure only temporary employment, needing to volunteer for experience, or just entering their first career position. The group is often categorized as having suitable or high levels of education but limited experience in their chosen career paths. EMPs are not considered "young professionals" based on age, but rather categorized by experience in the field.
This application form is for both those who are looking to be mentored and those who are looking to mentor.
