Science World is currently looking for a Content Developer to help the Exhibits Department fulfill our vision to create sustainable, thriving communities through science literacy, technological innovation, and a deep connection to nature.
This works includes supporting the development of the visitor experience throughout Science World, collaborating with community partners to communicate innovative STEAM knowledge and skills with our visitors, evaluating existing impact, and engaging our visitors in participating in creating thriving and sustainable communities.
Position Description:
As a member of the Exhibits Department and in alignment with Science World strategic initiatives, the Content Developer is responsible for supporting exhibit development through research, content creation, and visitor experience evaluation. Their primary focus will be on creating excellent STEAM-based content for exhibits and galleries. The Content Developer will assist in the production of interpretive content for STEAM-based exhibits and other print, digital, and interactive elements.
The ideal candidate is strongly visitor focused. The Content Developer should also have a solid understanding of design thinking, project management, universal design, evaluation methodologies, and best practices in STEAM education. Strong writing skills are needed to effectively engage and communicate with a broad range of visitors.
Through collaboration with multiple departments, the Content Developer is also responsible for basic content research, community partnership development, and gallery evaluation.

Responsibilities:
- Develop exhibit content for delivery through text, images, interactive experiences, video, and audio. Includes writing, editing, fact-checking, proofreading, and procuring educational resources
- Collaborate, communicate progress, and coordinate work with cross-functional teams including project managers, designers, community partners and other subject matter experts, educators, and other Science World staff
- Serve as an audience advocate, striving to create exhibit experiences that make science engaging, surprising, and compelling for broad audiences
- Contributes to the writing of Creative Briefs, Content Taxonomies, Content Outlines, and Exhibit Concept Documents. Assist in establishing a galleries ambient voice and tone
- Ensures that exhibit goals, objectives, and key messages are clearly established, and evaluated throughout the development process and throughout the life of the exhibit. Collaborate with Visitor Experience and Experiential Learning staff to test initial exhibition content and visitor experiences on the floor with the general public, partners, and staff
- Develop and foster long term relationships with community partners and outside subject matter experts, as well as fellow Science World educators and staff
- Collect, organize, and store information on a variety of exhibit topics
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of the following education and/or equivalent experience:
- Gifted science communicator and storyteller with demonstrated experience in research and science writing for diverse public audiences
- 3 Years experience in exhibit development for informal science or similar setting. Or combination of experience and education
What skills and capabilities do you bring?
- Strong writing skills for a broad range of audiences, ensuring that the writing is inclusive and accessible
- Extremely curious, with a strong desire to learn subject outside of professional or educational background
- Gifted science communicator and storyteller with demonstrated experience in research and science writing for diverse public audiences
- Proven ability to work with learners of various ages and ability levels, particularly students in grades K-8
- Ability to research deeply and quickly learn new subjects. Ability to collect, organizes and store information on exhibit topics
- Ability to synthesize complex topics and communicate the core concepts
- Strong research skills and an ability to effectively share that research with team members
- Extremely collaborative and bring experience fostering long term partnerships beyond individual projects
- Ability to write in a variety of tones and for a diverse audience
