Are you interested in researching, acquiring and de-accessioning artwork and identifying and classifying gallery objects? Use your knowledge and creativity to support the development of special exhibitions and acquisitions at the Burnaby Art Gallery as a Gallery Registrar! If you are also an organized and detail-oriented individual, you would be a great fit to prepare and maintain a variety of data and records and perform duties related to the storage, inventory, conservation and care of gallery exhibits. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include completion of Grade 12, supplemented by post-secondary courses related to the work and some related experience in an art gallery or museum, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Sound knowledge of standard art gallery methods, techniques, systems and procedures applicable to the work; of the standards and policies governing the work; of clerical processes and systems used in the work, including computer software applications. Ability to research, identify, classify and catalogue a variety of gallery materials; to assist in the development and arrangement of exhibitions, showings and events; to assist in the storage, inventory, conservation and care of art objects; to deal effectively with a variety of internal and external contacts; to maintain related records and data and to prepare required correspondence.
