VINES Den 825 E Hastings, Vancouver BC

How do we navigate moments of distress and conflict with care, confidence, and clarity? This one-day workshop explores practical approaches to de-escalation in community-facing spaces, where high-intensity interactions are often shaped by trauma, systemic inequities, and unmet needs.

Join the BCMA and VINES for this Crisis Navigation Workshop. Participants will be introduced to trauma-informed strategies for responding to people in heightened or altered emotional states, while strengthening their own capacity for grounding, presence, and self-regulation. Through guided exercises and real-world scenarios, the workshop will explore tools such as active listening, mirroring, and boundary-setting.

Building on these approaches, participants will engage in group discussions to reflect on their own experiences, comfort levels, and support needs - leaving with practical strategies to foster safer, more compassionate environments. This workshop includes a catered lunch.

Workshop fee: $25 for BCMA Members, $75 for non-members.
