Application and RSVP
The Innovation Lab will take place September 23 - 27, 2024.
Looking for the conference? Register here.
In 2024, the BCMA Conference will center sustainability in all its facets and feature two parallel tracks: the annual sector gathering and the brand-new innovation lab. Both events respond to our community’s desire for more innovative, hands-on, immersive learning experiences, for dedicated time spent with colleagues to form relationships across the province, for actionable outcomes and takeaways, and for the focus on a bright future of our sector.
The innovation lab aims to serve as a collaborative space to develop innovative ideas and practices and to redefine the way museums, arts, and cultural institutions approach sustainability. This dynamic workshop model will bring together a diverse group of about 50 arts and culture workers from across the province to engage, connect, play, experiment, create, prototype, and present their solutions for a more sustainable cultural sector.
Learn more on the BCMA website here.
Application Process
In the next step of this application you will be asked to submit a form telling us more about you and provide a few words on why you would like to participate in the innovation lab. We would like to make sure to have representation from different parts of the province, different types of organizations and different experience levels, and also get a sense which aspects of sustainability applicants are most interested in to plan accordingly.
Applications will be open throughout June and July. If there are more applicants than available spots, the BCMA Conference working group will adjudicate applications at the end of July and inform all participants. We will hold back tickets for the Gathering track for those that have not gotten into the innovation lab so you can still attend the Conference if you wish to.
Payment
Participation in the innovation lab has a fee of $399.00 CAD. No payment will be accepted until applications are approved. To finalize your RSVP, please select "process payment" and submit. Do not send any cheque payment until your application is accepted, at which time you will be able to pay by credit card if you wish. The BCMA Team will be in touch with next steps. If the price point presents a barrier to participating, please indicate this in your application form or get in touch with us at bcma@museum.bc.ca. We are doing our best to secure funding and offer bursary and discount options.
Capacity
The number of attendees will be capped at 50 due to the interactive nature of the event.
Code of Conduct
All participants will be required to agree to our code of conduct as part of the registration process. Read the Code of Conduct here in advance of your application.
